*We are pleased to announce the next edition of our ARISE Speaker Series on
January 19, 2022, at 7pm with a very timely topic as we enter the New Year
with our New Year’s resolutions in mind.*



*VLANJ ARISE Speaker Series- "Achieving Resilience, Inspiration, &
Self-Empowerment"*









*This speaker series will include a variety of topics to motivate and
inspire you to achieve your best self. You will engage with speakers who
bring a wide perspective in sharing their stories, life experiences, and
expertise to achieve a more positive mindset. Topics are inspirational and
educational, balancing practical life tasks, to pursuing creative arts and
encourage you to move towards your personal and professional goals, and a
feeling of greater self-empowerment. Time: January 19, 2022, at 7:00 pm
"Healthy Eating and Physical Activity for Diabetes Management & Prevention"
presented by Abbie Chesterson, Registered Dietitian, Certified Diabetes
Care and Education Specialist at Pennsylvania Hospital. This ARISE Speaker
Series presentation will cover how to choose healthy foods for management
and prevention of Diabetes. Approaches to carbohydrate management including
the plate method and food label reading will be reviewed. Choosing healthy
proteins and fats, the use of sugar substitutes, and healthy beverage
options will be discussed. We will also cover the importance and benefits
of physical activity for those interested in diabetes prevention and
diabetes management.*
